The ACHIEVE clinical trial is evaluating the safety and effectiveness of an investigational treatment for wAMD. A single injection of the study drug will be evaluated in participants 50 years of age or older with previously treated wAMD.

If you are interested in taking part in this clinical trial, you will begin a 6-week screening period to determine if you are eligible. During screening, you will receive an injection of an approved medication used to treat wAMD. If the study doctor determines that your wAMD has responded to the injection, you will receive another injection of this medication about 4 weeks later and will be randomly assigned to one of the following groups:
An eye surgeon will inject the investigational study drug into the back of your eye during an eye surgery called a vitrectomy under conscious sedation. After this surgery, your study doctor will monitor your eye to see if you need more injections of the approved medication given to you during Screening.

You will be enrolled in the study for up to 5 years. During this time, you will have regular visits with the study team so they can monitor your health and safety. Study visits may include questionnaires, eye exams, vision tests, and blood draws.
The investigational study drug includes a small piece of DNA (genetic material) that acts like a set of instructions. These instructions may help the body make its own medicine that blocks vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), a substance involved in some diseases, including wet AMD. The investigational study drug has not yet been approved by any regulatory authority, and the efficacy and safety have not been established.
